About Liz:

Liz Chapman lives and works in a remote Scottish village. The ‘Anonymous City’ paintings are inspired by her travels and interest in architecture. The city scenes are fragmented to convey anonymity. Each city has its own unique ambience, the colours of which Liz captures in their individual components to fully appreciate their presence.

Liz’s favourite painting:

“Shanghi is the one ‘Anonymous City’ painting that has the most meaning to me. It was the first of the collection. In so many ways it was such a memorable and significant trip: the culture, the history, the rich colours, the dominance of bright red in the streets and temples. Shanghi buzzed with energy and I knew I could capture this best by fragmenting and isolating the colours rather than blending them together. It worked! From that point on no city was to be left untouched.”
